Equilibrium

Yes, I did in fact drop off the face of the earth. Thanks to all of you – blog friends and my amigos y amigas in the real world – who have kept getting on my case.

The past month and a half haven’t been real great on my end. While my time back in Oklahoma wasn’t particularly bad (didn’t eat too poorly, but not real great, and I only managed to get to the gym about once a week), I returned to Portland on the 5th of January.

Whereupon the wheels summarily fell off with delicious $2.99 Wendy’s Extra Value Meals.

I went to the hospital to get weighed on Tuesday, and I weighed 435lbs. Two pounds less than the beginning of December, which sucks. I have to look at the positive side, though, and say it’s good I didn’t pack on any holiday weight gain. Still I’m no more closer to Goal #1, and now I’m about sixty days out from it. Is thirty five pounds in sixty days even possible? Well, the give-up attitude I want to use is bull – time to man up and see if it is possible.

But, I’m back in the saddle, with no excuses. I hit up the gym yesterday, and will be going on Thursday, and then this weekend. I’ve settled on a full-body workout I think I’ll be happy with, but if not – there’s always room and time for changes, right? I would have liked to use more dumbbells, but the gym was absolutely packed when I went.

  • Bench Press Machine – 3×10 – 110lbs – I struggled to finish, but I did. More weight on Thursday.
  • Military Press Machine -3×10 – 95lbs – I did this in a combo set with the bench press and it beat the hell out of me. I barely got halfway through my final set.
  • Tricep Rope Extentions – 3×10 – 100lbs – pain, pain, pain, but I pushed through.
  • Lat Pulldowns – 3×10 – 135lbs – I need to dump a lot more weight on this.
  • Seated Row – 3×10 – 110lbs – Another combo set with the pulldowns, this were beastly. I barely finished.
  • Bicep Machine – 3×10 – 95lbs – As the last of my upper body / arms work, this was a pretty harsh set.

I haven’t been working my legs too much at all, with the exception of a seated leg press back in Oklahoma. What a boneheaded move! Time to remedy that, eh? As I was just trying out things, I didn’t want to overload myself the first go round. However, I know I can dump a significantly greater amount of weight onto my legs that what I did yesterday.

  • Seated Leg Press – 3×10 – 170lbs
  • Leg Extension – 3×10 0 145lbs
  • Leg Curl – 3×10 – 130lbs

So, back in the saddle, back to weight training, back to eating right. It’s time to quit being lazy, make time in my day, and get this done.
