WHOO HOO! Goal Two: achieved!

I am so ridiculously pumped right now. Maybe it’s because I feel I’ve had to work harder for this goal than last month’s 400 mark, or the wonky stop-go-stop-go nature of my weight loss this week, or even the two weeks of nothingness, but I feel oddly more elated to see the 379 pop up on my scale this morning than I did weeks ago when 399 came up.

I’m not a particularly demonstrative person, but man, I had to holler out (and beat my chest all manly like, and do a little jig) when the scale dropped below that 380 mark.

Dagum, this feels great!

Moving Past Sixty Pounds

Like I mentioned in my other post, I still want to get another pound or two down by the time I fly back to Oklahoma. I’m not going to allow myself to fall off the wagon (with the exception of my Tuesday night BBQ ribstravanganza), but some wiggle room will be great nonetheless.

Now, I’m setting my sights at the 360 mark for Goal Three, which is by July 4th. However, my three pounds a week mantra dictates me hitting that mark by late June. So, late June it is.

Awesome.

Good to see the numbers go down today. Really, really good. Now, I’m officially less than a pound away from hitting Goal Two! I just got back from the gym where I busted my tail on a lifting day, and I’m pretty much outta gas. Still, I’m going to try and hit the gym for a bit of HIIT tonight after Chi Alpha (the university / young adult ministry I work with).

I want to see 379 pop up so bad! I’m hungry for it! I’m starving for it!

Go Linemen

On a wholly unrelated note, I gotta give some props to Jake Long, who went as the number one draft pick and got signed to the Miami Dolphins this week. He’s a hoss offensive tackle. Then, look at all the defensive linemen who are looking to go in the first round! Glen Dorsey (even though he’s from LSU, and I can’t stand Les Miles), Ellis, Gholston Long. C’mon boys!

Granted, I may have been a bottom of the barrel football player back in high school, but it still makes me proud to see the D-Line representing so mind boggling well this year. Now, if the Seahawks can be smart this weekend, I’ll be set.

I don’t get my body sometimes.

(That may be the most womanly thing I have ever written. Please bare with me and we’ll move past it quickly.)

After touching the 385 mark last week, I thought I was doing well. But some indiscretions I thought were minor that week (namely a trip to Red Robin for a free belated birthday burger), lead to me waking up the next morning and finding my weight back at 388. I spent the next two days fighting the 388 to no success, and then the weight plummets over the past three days. Now, I’m within a pound and a half of hitting Goal Two.

I don’t get it! (But I’m not particularly complaining about being 381!)

Goal Two is going to be made within the next two days, and I’m aiming on pushing hard into the 370s to give myself a couple pounds of wiggle room for my week back in Oklahoma. I’m mentally factoring a zero change while I’m with the family in regards to my weight loss schedule for Goal Three (360 pounds by July 4th), but if I get off the plane at 378 or so, that’d be all the more comforting.

I’m looking forward to seeing the family and especially looking forward to partying it up with my sis and her friends. And I’m even more excited about my momma’s home cooking – it’s the best. Meatloaf and chili bean casserole. Yum. Then, I’m conning my pop into cooking up some of his famous BBQ chicken and begging my mom for some potato salad.

The trick here for me is to realize I can eat and enjoy whatever I want in moderation No need for seconds (or formerly thirds, too), but if I stick to my five small meals a day plan, I can have a bit of meatloaf again in three hours! However, let me be completely up front here and admit that the Tuesday night I get in, I’m going buck wild.

Magnificent Oklahoma, the land of amazing barbecue. And Rib Crib, land of all you can eat ribs on Tuesday nights! That’s right, I’m giving myself an all access rib-eating pass that night.

But, if I can keep on top of everything and not let myself go crazy with other meals and while I’m with my sis. I should make it through just fine. And, if I can finagle it, I may see if I can get some sort of week long membership at the Y, just to keep the fat-burning going strong.

To get there, though, I’ve got to amp everything up this week. It has to be a boot camp level of discipline for me over the course of the next seven days. And I’m not just talking about on the health front, but with work and everything else in life as well.

I want those 370s!

Well, after getting mentally / psychologically pummeled for most of last week (stress about work just got to a point of brain implosion which left me too wore out to get to the gym four out of seven days), it’s a good feeling to get back on track. Well, on the health front, maybe if not so much having all my stuff together regarding my professional life as an itinerant, fundraising minister and freelance designer (I’ll have to write more about that one of these days).

The numbers on the scale have been dropping again pretty solidly the past three days straight: 387.2, 386.4, and then 385.6 this morning. According the the weight schedule I have written on my Wall of Defiance in my bedroom, I needed to hit 386 on Monday, when my weigh in was 387. My weigh ins all month have been lagging behind, but slowly have been catching up. So now, to only be a pound away from the weekly goal is actually a pretty good feeling – compared to being three or four pounds off.

So, the plan is to keep with the food / calorie counting and daily workouts (and throwing in an extra cardio routine late night when I can) and hit 380. I would say “with any luck…” but it’s completely false. With hard work and determination, I can hit 380 wit a day or two or three to spare.

Now, if I can only get work to respond to hard work as well as my own body does! Sigh.
