Congrats on the job. Exercise is the key to healthy living. Simply reducing calories can end up reducing our metabolisms in a downward spiral until we either die or start gaining the weight back. Exercise increases the metabolism, makes us stronger, and with the proper nutrition makes us healthy. I bet getting back into your exercise routine will get things rolling in the right direction again.

Anyways, friendly competition is the way to go! I’m very competitive so it really helps me out, so maybe when I get back in September we’ll have to have one for the month…see who can lose the most % of body weight, you know??? I’ll get back to you on that on the 2nd when I get back to kicking ass again.

I’m sure you can both do it! You’ll need that new job as your whole wardrobe will need to be replaced. I’ve been buying new clothes every two months.

I was a 50 waist not too long ago…mid 30s now! So it is definitely doable.

@John: Tell me about it, Casual Male is easily 20% more expensive than the “normal” stores. But hey, when you’re the only supplier of fat guy sizes for an ever-growing segment of the population, I guess you can charge as much as you want.

What frustrates me is that their store brands are of piss poor quality. At least I’ve found a store for my large shoe sizes.

@Craig: Yeah, it sucks being this big. No doubt. But hey – at least we’ve got some actual metrics and measurements to be aiming for.

It’s on now, man. I plan on being in those size 42′s very soon (at least before you)!

Seriously, I know how you feel about buying clothes. I was really embarrased when I was fitted for a tuxedo about a month ago and the store didn’t have a size 52 coat for me to try on to get the correct sizing. It won’t be long before those “regular” store clothes will fit.

Good luck with getting the new job Will! I’m right there with ya for shopping at “normal” stores. I’m still buying my XXXL shirts at Casual Male Big and Tall and they charge an arm and a leg.
