My Unrepentant Weekend of Wanton Carelessness
Today’s Weigh-In: 327.X-328.X?
(The scale was giving me wonky “ERR” messages and wouldn’t settle down on a number, but it was fluctuating from 324 – 331. Most of the time, it was between 327 and 328. So, I’m saying that’s my best guess, but who knows it very well may be much higher.)
Nine months. I’ve been at this thing for nine months and finally have hit a wall. The past couple weeks have been a ridiculous battle of two steps forward, two steps back. I make progress in the fat loss department over the course of a week, but one single, measly cheat meal knocks me back up several pounds.
I just had enough and needed to blow off some steam. So, I did.
I ate poorly the whole weekend. Not even by accident – I deliberately went out of my way to chose poorly. I wouldn’t say I loved it, in fact, it left me feeling sick to my stomach at times, but it was nice to just let go for a brief period of time, consequences be damned.
Friday night: A half ton of Italian food, pasta, cheesy garlic bread, clam chowder
Saturday: McGriddles and hashbrowns for breakfast. Two Krispy Kreme donuts two and a half hours later. Greek food and enough pastries to make me sick? You betcha. 2 McDonald’s McChickens 20 minutes before I went to bed.
Sunday: Grilled Chicken tenders and fries for an early lunch. Cinnamon roll, ranch Corn Nuts, sweet potato fries for dinner (that combo make me pop some Rolaids, for real). Quarter pounder burger and fries for a late, late dinner.
I’m not an emotional eater, so I don’t binge eat like this. In fact, this is the first time in my health journey that I went out and made an extended series of poor choices past a single, isolated meal. But, in a weird sense, I’m glad I did – it’s really let off some pressure, and now I can get back to obliterating all the fat I’ve got hanging on my body.
However, there were a number of times during all the socializing this weekend that people said how good I looked. It was especially encouraging take all my 4XLT coats and jackets to Goodwill and give them away because they were way too big. And, it was also great to walk into Kohl’s and buy a new hoodie – in XXL!
So, I’m sure there’s some bigger lesson to be learned from this weekend, but I’m still processing through it, so I’ll have to get back to you tomorrow about that.
